Discipline (Correcting inappropriate
behavior)
Correcting
inappropriate behavior
is very essential. Violence and discipline are serious problems in
education
system (Joneses, pp. 58-65). Traditional ways of correcting misbehavior
(i.e.
punishing
for misbehavior) were not useful especially at the stage of
adolescence. The
best way in my classroom will be to form a strong relationship with
students
that show seemingly
unacceptable
behavior. Such behavior could
be
the
result of
losing a sense of belongingness
in
the family or society. I believe
that these
students
need care and want to be listened.
Adequate
understanding of
the
source of the
problem
will be useful to provide the necessary advice.
My
problem solving principle will be like watering the roots to enjoy the
fruits. It means the cause of any undesirable problem must
be clearly identified to pave the way for future peaceful progress of
the learning atmosphere in the classrooms.
Generally, I will be
a caring, good listener and also an
authoritative teacher who will be firm and consistent with my
communication to
students. The following steps will be
implemented
to correct in appropriate behavior in my classroom.
1. Non-verbal cue and
verbal cue
2. Warning
3. Delivery of consequences: move student, call in after
school, detention, down to the principals office.
I believe that, with
the classroom management plan written
here and particularly with the relationship that I will build between
the
students and my self and among the students will help me achieve our
goal that
is set for the academic year. Finally, as part of my classroom
management plan
here is a sample of letter that I will be sending to each parent of my
students (letter to parents).
