Assessment serves many purposes in education, but the main purpose of assessment is to promote student learning and growth. In this component of my Education Portfolio, I have included three specific areas of assessment that I would use as the foundation for assessment in the classroom.
Needs Assessment is a necessary assessment process used in order to find out what students know and don't know so that a teacher teaches from the students' level of understanding. I have created a questionnaire for seventh graders that will gauge their familiarity with different aspects of Art
Student Self-evaluation gives students the valuable opportunity and training to reflect on themselves, their work and each other's work. In this section, I have included several samples of ways students may critique their own Art projects.
Objective Test briefly discusses many different ways of carrying out assessment. It also includes an Art History selected response assessment I have created for eighth graders.
Needs assessment may be created from scratch in context of a particular grade level OR. the 7th grade ceramic test as a needs assess at the beginning of the 8th grade ceramic class OR ideas from the Art and Images books
